Big 5

The Big Five personality traits are extraversion (also often spelled extroversion), agreeableness, openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. They are often abbreviated as OCEAN. There are levels/degrees to which these traits express themselves and individuals can fall anywhere on the continuum for each trait. Research shows these traits remain relatively stable throughout most of one’s lifetime. There are exceptions to this, for example: if self-development work is done, it can increase or decrease their expression. The Big 5 Factors are influenced significantly by both genes and the environment, with an estimated heritability of 50%. Plainly put, both nature and nurture are at play with these traits. You may score similarly to a parent or family member. Research also supports that these traits can predict certain important life outcomes like relationship choices, health, education level, and career performance.

This specific personality assessment measures these 5 traits across 30 factors.
