How to Take Your Assessments

Welcome to Discover!

These are the basic fundamental assessments everyone needs in order to build their awareness, which is the first step towards insight.

The Four Assessments:

  1. Core Values: Your fundamental beliefs on life. The things that are the most important + of the highest value to you.
  2. Big 5: The Five-Factor Model, also called the Big Five, is a personality theory that essentially posits there are five personality traits that every person is composed of. The varying degrees of each trait's existence and expression create an individual's personality.
  3. Personality Assessment: This specific personality assessment measures both types AND traits. It goes deeper than the Myers Briggs, for those of you who have taken that assessment, and analyses your strengths & weaknesses, your approach to romantic relationships + friendships, what parenthood may look like for you, your possible career paths, and your workplace habits.
  4. Attachment Style: This specific survey is designed to provide you with in-depth information about your attachment style and your personality. It allows you to track your attachment style and personality functioning across time if you choose. There are four main adult attachment styles: secure, anxious, avoidant, and fearful-avoidant (aka disorganized). (The latter three are all considered forms of insecure attachment.)

How to Take Them:

  • Have an open mind.
  • Take these assessments based on how you currently arenot how you wish you were/want to be/what you think other people would answer.
  • Give yourself time and space to be thoughtful and intentional in your answers. Ideally you will be alone in a space where you can focus and not worry about distractions or feel concerned about people seeing your answers.

Disclaimer:

During and after taking these assessments, your psyche will be flooded with new information about yourself. You may have understood or heard of some of these concepts before. This class takes it to a new level. You will be applying these concepts and results into your daily life. As your brain attempts to integrate this newfound information, you may experience an intrapsychic conflict (AKA feeling at odds with yourself) because the deeper awareness is creating a different perspective + narrative than the one you currently have.

Not to worry; this is NORMAL! You are not alone!
